Q+A with Amber and Dustin

We love getting to know our couples as every couple is unique and has a different story! Amber and Dustin got married with us on 9-14-19 at our Mountain View venue. Here are their answers to our Couple Q+A!

How did you meet?

We actually met on Facebook! I had noticed him in my suggested friends over the course of a few weeks and finally just added him, he messaged me and we hit it off.

How many years have you been together?

It will be one year on the 16th of February!

Who was interested first?

I’d say him, but I wasn’t far behind

Where was your first date?

We rode backroads and ate Mexican

Who said “I Love You” first?

Dustin

How did you all get engaged?

He took me to our favorite spot overlooking our town that’s just beautiful. He sat his phone up because he wanted a “good picture” of us. I was looking out and he came up behind me and when I turned around he was on one knee.

Did you go anywhere for your Honeymoon?

Gatlinburg!

What is the craziest thing you all have done together?

Zip Line!

Any kids or pets?

We have two dogs named Zoey and Diesel. Hopefully babies soon ❤️

Who is more likely to burn the house down while cooking?

Amber 🤭😂

Who takes up more than half of the bed?

Definitely Dustin!!!

Who is a better driver?

Dustin says he is!

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

The view!

If you could tell everyone about Above the Mist Weddings, what would you tell them?

I wouldn’t choose anywhere else to get married even if I had to do it over again. ATM is FANTASTIC and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. We recommended them to everyone we know!

Lauren + Anthony

We asked our Brides to tell the story of how they met from their perspective. We just loved Lauren + Anthony’s story and HAD to share it! Thank you for letting us share in your story and help you plan for your big day!

My husband and I got married September 2018 at Above the Mist and could not be happier about doing so…. How We Met:
His sister in law moved to Ohio and met my cousin in a Mom’s group on Facebook. They both kept talking about each of us and started telling us both about one another. The only problem was my husband was stationed in Utah and I lived in Ohio. I knew that I wasn’t leaving Ohio, but little did I know, he was from Ohio and eventually wanted to end back up here to be closer to his family.
I remember receiving a text message from him on March 5, 2018 and telling my dad, “This guy lives in Utah–this won’t be going anywhere!” At the time, my dad told me conversation was free and to go ahead and “make a new friend.”
For the remainder of March, texting ended up turning into hour(s) long phone conversations. Come to find out, he would be in Ohio at the end of April before leaving for a nine month deployment. We finally met, and as cliche as it sounds, it was love at first sight!
He left for his deployment on May 6, 2018. While he was in Afghanistan, he had my mom help him pick out and purchase a ring, and ended up proposing to me over Facetime on July 17th! Of course I said yes. He came back to Ohio for a two week break on September 10, 2018…. we got married at Above the Mist on September 17, 2018 and he left for the remainder of his deployment on September 22, 2018. He’s now home safe with a baby girl on the way! I wouldn’t change a single thing, nor would I redo any of it.

Rainbow in the Smokies

untitled-6874

Saturday we had the most gorgeous end to our very busy day at Above the Mist. Our mountain venue was rainy but welcomed us with a gorgeous, vivid rainbow to begin our ceremony with. We embrace all weather when it comes to our service and photography because it only just makes your day that more unique and memorable. Whether it’s 85 degrees out, pouring rain, snow, or rainbows – it’ll be perfect! The Smoky Mountains has a way of being pretty unpredictable – and pretty incredible.

Leslie and her family all were just as excited and in awe of this venue as we are every time we prep for a wedding here. Panorama all around of the beauty that can  not be replaced. I am thrilled to show each and every one of our brides, grooms and their guest what this place has to offer and to capture those precious moments in your life with this backdrop.

The mountain venue offers so much variety for photos and a small little area for you to be able to slip your dress on, hideaway before the ceremony starts.

We are so excited to see what the rest of 2018 has to offer but so grateful for everyone who has invested and trusted in us to make your day so incredibly special and perfect like you deserve.
